How to Dress Any Window

Windows come in so many different shapes and sizes, which is what makes them so beautiful. Finding ways to dress every window, on the other hand, can feel like an impossible feat. From the team at Amazing Blinds & Shutters, we have tips to help you dress every window in your home, even the oddly shaped ones. (We’re looking at you, bay windows!)

Hunter Douglas Design Studio™ Side Panels and Drapery, drapes, curtains, blackout curtains near Amarillo, Texas (TX)

Living Room

The windows in most living rooms tend to be similar, but you can quickly transform the look of your windows and space with a couple of tricks. Design Studio™ Side Panels & Drapery are available in a vast array of fabrics, textures, and patterns to suit any style of living room. Hang the hardware as close to the ceiling as possible to create the illusion of a taller ceiling and more spacious room. Keep the dramatic theme going by going with a length that breaks either just above the floor or forms a very slight puddle on it. And don’t forget about the width of the panels. Extending them several inches past the sides of the window frame will make your window look larger and let in the most natural light.

Bay Windows

If you’re fortunate enough to have bay windows in your home, you know how stunning they are. You also know they can be challenging to dress. Fortunately, you have a couple routes to take when outfitting bay windows. You can use luxe drapery to create one gorgeous unit, or Vignette® Modern Roman Shades to make each window its own entity. Using a dark colored shade in a light room will provide contrast and a modern touch. Whatever you choose, our team will be able to give you our best recommendations as to which Hunter Douglas window treatment will be the best for the bay in your life.

Kitchens

Kitchen windows pose a unique set of issues. Window coverings will be exposed to moisture, grease, and food smells, making curtains a less than ideal choice. Designer Roller Shades have a crisp, uncluttered look and are easy to clean. Another perk of roller shades is that vinyl won’t hold on to cooking odors. Another great option is our Palm Beach™ Polysatin™ Shutters - guarunteed not to fade, peel, crack, or discolor in moist or humid environments.

Stacked Windows

You don’t have to worry about creating the illusion of extra height when you have stacked windows. Hang hardware between the sets of windows for privacy where you need it and abundant natural light simultaneously.

Bedrooms

Light control is always a top priority in bedrooms. You may not need it completely dark at all times, but it’s nice to have the option to sleep in some days. NewStyle® Hybrid Shutters can be mounted inside the window frame to keep out nearly all light and have classic style. If fabric treatments are more your speed, you don’t have to sacrifice light control. Just layer up! Try Provenance® Woven Wood Shades paired with lined linen panels for a light, airy look.
